It it time once again to apply for the City of Tybee Island Homestead Exemption. Applications must be filed each year to be eligible for senior rates on utility bills and exemption from Tybee Island ad valorem taxes on real and personal property. The deadline for filing is April 1, 2022.
Individuals qualifying for the Homestead Exemption must be 62 years old on January 1, 2022, have a total combined household income* less than $30,000 for 2021, and own and have legal residency as of January 1, 2021.
The application can be obtained from the link below, or from www.cityoftybee.org. Return the application to City Hall with a copy of your 2021 Federal tax return. If you do not file a tax return, you may submit a copy of your year end 2021 Social Security statement.
*This includes anyone currently living at the residence.
