As of the 11 AM Thursday, The National Hurricane Center shows that TS Isaias (pronounced ees-ah-EE-ahs) is expected to be approximately 110 miles offshore from Tybee around 8 AM Monday morning. Tybee Island is on the weak side of the system, and we anticipate mild TS force wind & rain associated with bands passing through the area.
Dangerous surf and beach erosion is likely. Therefore, we will close the water to swimmers Sunday and Monday as conditions dictate. City Administrative Offices will be closed Monday, but all Public Safety and 911 Services will remain active. This is a “Shelter in Place” scenario, no evacuation orders are planned at this time. Please stay to tuned to all local media for additional updates.
