HOW GOVERNOR’S EXTENDED ORDERS IMPACT TYBEE
Governor Brian Kemp has extended Georgia’s State of Emergency and Shelter in Place orders and issued a new order to restrict vacation rentals as the coronavirus continues to spread. The Governor’s declaration for the State of Emergency will now extend to Wednesday, May 13, 11:59 p.m.
The previous Shelter in Place order originally set to expire on April 13 is now extended to Thursday, April 30, 11:59 p.m. Everything in the original Shelter in Place executive order remains in force.
Here is how the executive orders impact Tybee Island:
BEACHES
The beaches on Tybee Island are still open to the public for exercise only, but the wooden crossovers will remain closed to help facilitate the required six feet of social distancing. The beach can be accessed at five vehicle access points on the island: Polk Street, Gulick Street, 3rd Street, 19th Street and Inlet Avenue.
BUSINESSES
All business restrictions in the governor’s order have been extended to April 30th. This includes the takeout and delivery only requirement for restaurants. Bars are to be closed and businesses must meet the criteria laid out in the order to remain open.
SHORT TERM VACATION RENTALS (STVRs)
The governor issued a new executive order addressing STVRs. Starting today (April 9) at 12 a.m. no short term vacation rentals are allowed state wide until April 30, 11:59 p.m.
- Those with fully paid reservations may continue the rental through the end of the reservation
- Reservations may not be extended
- The order excludes hotels and campgrounds, however River’s End Campground has not been accepting reservations and will continue this practice
