Our own Tybee Island Maritime Academy has recently been notified by the Georgia Charter Schools Association that they are one of the top two contenders for this award. GCSA member schools can apply to win the “Innovation Award.” This award is sponsored by the Coca-Cola Foundation and is designed to recognize schools that achieve measurable student growth through the use of innovative practices. The charter school of the year awards recognize outstanding commitment to student success through academic performance, governance, school autonomy, and financial and legal compliance.
