The City of Tybee Island has contracted with Phillips Paving for the annual asphaltic paving project and associated storm sewer work.
The following is the tentative schedule for construction activities. This is subject to change depending upon field conditions and weather and will be updated weekly.
Storm sewer installation of 14th Street between 2nd Avenue and Lovell Avenue
Approximate Start Date: Monday February 19, 2024
Duration: 2 Weeks
Construction Activity: Installation of new 18 inch storm sewer on south side of 14th Street from 2nd Avenue to Lovell Avenue
Traffic restrictions: 14th Street will be limited to local access only with temporary road closures. Upon reaching the Lovell Avenue and 14th Street intersection, this intersection will be closed for the installation of new storm water inlets and pipe.
Polk Street – Bay Street to Shipwatch Lane
Approximate Start Date: Monday February 26, 2024
Duration: 2 Weeks
Construction Activity: Contractor will mill off the existing asphalt surface and grade roadway. Paving activities will occur approximately 3 days after the completion of the milling
Traffic restrictions: local traffic only traveling on a milled roadway surface
6th Avenue – 12th Street to 13th Street
Approximate Start Date: March 7, 2024
Duration: 1 Week
Construction Activity: Contractor will mill off the existing asphalt surface and grade roadway. Paving activities will occur approximately 3 days after the completion of the milling
Traffic restrictions: local traffic only traveling on a milled roadway surface
7th Avenue – 13th Street to Chatham Avenue
Approximate Start Date: March 14, 2024
Duration: 2 Weeks
Construction Activity: Contractor will mill off the existing asphalt surface and grade roadway. Paving activities will occur approximately 3 days after the completion of the milling
Traffic restrictions: local traffic only traveling on a milled roadway surface
Lovell Avenue – Tybrisa Street to 14th Street
Approximate Start Date: March 21, 2024
Duration: 2 Weeks

14th Street – Butler Avenue to Jones Avenue

Duration: 2 Weeks
