  1. Summer Sea Camp

    Kids 6 to 11 years old * Morning and/or Afternoon Modules * After Care * Curbside Drop-off/Pick-up Summer FUN for the kids…designed to fit your schedule • Choose a combination of days and times to fit your summer schedule. • We offer ten sessions of Sea Camp. • Each camp session runs Monday to Friday. • Sign-up for all five days of a camp session, or any combination of days, mornings, or afternoon modules. • Each day has two 3-hour modules: Mornings, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. & Afternoons, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. • Each module is $30 (that’s just $10 an hour!) • Choose both morning and afternoon modules and have your child bring a packed lunch. • We also offer After-Care each day from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for an additional $10/day.

  2. South Beach Ecology Walk

    Join a marine science educator for a guided walk on Tybee’s south beach. Learn about the dynamics of the barrier islands of Georgia, the importance of the intertidal zone, the forces behind tides and waves, and sand dune formation. Identify the wildlife that live in and around the ocean and discuss the impact of marine debris and shoreline development. South Beach Walks meet at the Science Center.

  3. Behind the Scenes Tours

    June 13, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ UGA MARINE EDUCATION CENTER AND AQUARIUM

    Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the UGA Aquarium? Visitors are invited to learn what it’s like to care for our native marine animals during a behind-the-scenes tour led by staff. Highlights include seeing the food prep room and observing a seahorse feeding! Children ages 5 and above are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is encouraged to guarantee your spot. Online registration will close at 4 p.m. the day before the program. For day-of payment, please arrive 15 minutes early and bring cash or check.   4. Turtle Talk

    Loggerheads, Kemp's Ridley, Greens, and Leatherback sea turtles all nest on coastal Georgia's beaches. Join us to learn about the amazing lives of these sea turtles. We'll discuss anatomy, natural adaptations, why sea turtles cry, natal beaches, and Tybee Island's conservation efforts. Afterward we'll head down to the Coastal Gallery to feed our visiting loggerhead sea turtle. Recommended for ages six and above.

  5. Sift and Seine

    June 13, 2019, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Tybee Island Marine Science Center

    Discover the marine life of the intertidal zone through seining. Pull a ten-foot seine net through waist deep water to catch, examine, and release marine life. Commonly caught organisms include pompanos, silversides, mullets, sea jellies, and crabs. After seining, we’ll explore the marine life of the sandy bottom by sifting various organisms from the wet sand on the beach. Recommended for participants nine years and older.

  6. Marsh Trek

    June 13, 2019, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Tybee Island Marine Science Center (Class meets off site. Details provided at registration.)

    Trek through Georgia’s salt marsh, where you’ll get hands-on exploration in the mud searching for fiddler crabs, snails, and more. Examine salty grasses, observe soaring marsh birds, and hum with periwinkle snails. Learn about adaptations necessary for survival in this environment, how the marsh functions as a nursery for many organisms, a filter for pollutants, and as an abundant food source. **REQUIRED - Please wear closed-toed, closed-heel shoes, such as rain boots or old tennis shoes (no flip flops or Crocs) and expect to get muddy.** The proper shoes are required to participate in the program. You will not be refunded if you do not wear the proper shoes. Not recommended for kids under six years old. Marsh Treks meet off-site, on the north end of the island at Spanish Hammock. Directions are emailed with paid program confirmation.

  7. "The Lego Movie: The Second Part"

    The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part,” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet (Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett) and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical.   1. Regular City Council Meeting

    June 13, 2019, 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM @ Courtroom/Council Chambers

    Consent Agenda Consideration begins at 6:30 PM Regular Meeting begins at 7:00 pm and continues until all business on the agenda has been addressed. Council Meetings take place on the second and fourth Thursday each month and are broadcast live on Comcast Cable Access Channel 7. Thereafter, recorded meetings are rebroadcast Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat at both 10am and 7pm. Video-on-demand recordings can be found at http://cityoftybee.viebit.com. Agendas are typically published the Friday before the meeting in the City's WebLink archives at http://weblink.cityoftybee.org/weblink/0/fol/16/Row1.aspx. To Address Council about existing agenda items, please speak during public comments. Infrastructure Committee

  1. Infrastructure Committee Meeting

    June 13, 2019, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM @ Conference Room

    The Infrastructure Committee Meeting meets regularly in the conference room in Tybee's Public Safety Building, just prior to the first Council Meeting each month, with a second meeting prior to the second monthly Council meeting when needed. Times run from 5:30 PM, not to run past the Council Consent Agenda Meeting at 6:30. Council regularly meets the second and fourth Thursday each month.
