May 3, 2018, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Tybee Arts Association - Classroom/Studio
A plein air (painting outdoors) workshop focused on local Tybee coastal scenes. Includes demos, one-on-one instruction, and gentle class critique. Back-up space in case of inclement weather is held at Tybee Arts Association Gallery. Participants will be encouraged to study light, shadow, and atmosphere. We focus on ways to create stronger composition, how to use color successfully, loosen up, and work quickly without getting stuck. Starting each day with a demo, each student will move on to do value sketches and then paint. They will receive technical instruction, class discussion, and gentle critique. Instructor walks around to each artist
continually throughout the day as they paint, offering individual one-on-one time with each artist.
In the end, participants will go home with finished plein air paintings and solid recommendations as to where to go next with their individual painting practice.
