  1. South Beach Ecology Walks

    October 6, 2018, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

    South beach walks depart from the science center and you’ll join one of our knowledgeable marine science educators on a guided walk of Tybee’s south beach. Learn about the dynamics of Georgia’s barrier islands, the importance of the intertidal zone, the forces behind the waves, Tybee’s unique tidal surge, and the role that sand dunes perform in keeping Tybee protected.

  2. Turtle Talk

    October 6, 2018, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    During a Turtle Talk, you’ll learn about anatomy and natural adaptations of sea turtles, discuss Tybee’s Sea Turtle Project conservation efforts, and meet our resident loggerhead sea turtle. Based on program content, Turtle Talks are recommended for participants 6 years and older.

  3. $5 Marsh Treks

    October 6, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

    On a marsh trek, you’ll enjoy a hands-on exploration of Georgia’s salt marsh, searching the mud for fiddler crabs, snails, and more. Learn about adaptations necessary for survival in this environment, how the marsh functions as a nursery for many organisms, a filter for pollutants, and as an abundant food source. Please wear closed-toed, closed-heel shoes, such as rain boots or old tennis shoes (no flip flops or Crocs) and expect to get muddy. Marsh Treks meet off-site, on the north end of the island at Spanish Hammock. Directions are provided with paid program confirmation.

  1. 14th Annual Tybee Piratefest

    October 6, 2018, 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM @ 16th Street Parking Lot

    Saturday, Oct. 6th 10 AM – 11 PM Tybee Pirate Festival – Strand Parking Lot Ticket Price – $15 (kids 12 & under free) Thieves Market, Little Matey’s Cove, Fireworks, Live Music and more LITTLE MATEY’S COVE Carnival – Pirate Ship ride, Ferris Wheel Bounce Houses Magic Show Petting Zoo Kids Craft Area SIDE STAGE Motely Tones – performing throughout the day. PIRATE VICTORY PARADE 3 – 5 PM – Parade – This parade is a must for families! Parade participants will pass out treasure along the route. The parade runs from North Beach Parking Lot to Tybrisa St and traditionally takes 2hrs to complete. MAIN STAGE 1 – 2 PM – Kids & Pet Costume Contest 5 PM – In for a Penny 6 PM – Adult Costume Contest 6:30 PM – Lynn Avenue 7:30 PM – Thomas Claxton and the Myth 9 PM – Quiet Riot 9:45 ish – Fireworks 10 PM – DJ Dance Party
