Director David Lean’s cinematic masterpiece, it’s the epic tale of a sensitive Russian physician, who is torn between his loyal, long-suffering wife and the great love of his life.
Set during the Russian Revolution, Dr. Yuri Zhivago (Omar Sharif) is a young doctor who has been raised by his aunt and uncle following his father's suicide. Yuri falls in love with beautiful Lara Guishar (Julie Christie), who has been having an affair with her mother's lover, Victor Komarovsky (Rod Steiger), an unscrupulous businessman. Yuri, however, ends up marrying his cousin, Tonya (Geraldine Chaplin). But when he and Lara meet again years later, the spark of love reignites.
It won five Oscars in 1966, coming three years after Lean’s other lengthy Oscar-winning spectacle “Lawrence of Arabia,” which also featured Omar Sharif.

Having sold out two national tours of “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline,” including a performance at the Post, Katie Deal takes the stage with her own story of how the music and style of Patsy Cline have changed her life forever.
With a new take on nostalgia, Katie’s one-woman show, “Katie Deal in: Crazy for Patsy Cline” features a live band, tight harmonies and a powerhouse singer. In this evening of “pure Patsy” you will learn a little bit about Katie, a little bit about Ms. Patsy, one of the greatest country singers of all time, and a lot about why Patsy’s music is loved by so many.
From her breakout hit, “Walkin’ After Midnight” to “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces” and “Sweet Dreams,” released after her tragic death in a small plane crash, Patsy Cline, the first female inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame, was a major influence on all female country singers who followed in her footsteps.

Based on the runaway bestseller, “Where'd You Go, Bernadette” is an inspiring comedy starring Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, who plays Bernadette Fox, a Seattle architect, who seems to have it all -- a beautiful home, a loving husband and a brilliant teenage daughter.
However, Bernadette, clearly dissatisfied with her life, becomes compelled to reconnect with her creative passions after years of sacrificing herself for her family. When she suddenly goes on the lam, her concerned family sets off on an exciting adventure to solve the mystery of where she might have gone.
Directed by Richard Linklater, of ”Before Sunset,” “Before Midnight” and “Boyhood” fame. PG-13

A strange turn of events pairs him on the road with Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a small-time outlaw on the run, who becomes Zak's unlikely coach and ally. Update: Tonight, Tuesday, September 17th, the City of Tybee Island is hosting a public meeting to gather input about turning Meddin Drive into a one-way street and bicycle/pedestrian path. A pedestrian/bike lane is proposed on Meddin Drive that would be painted green to allow for greater visitbility. This proposal also addresses the need for more strategic solutions for bus drop-offs and bus parking, in addition to improving crosswalks near the Lighthouse in the highest pedestrian traffic area. With the relocation of the Tybee Island Marine Sceince Center to the north end in 2020, we will likely see greater traffic of all sorts, and the City is seeking proactive solutions that will work for visitors, residents, businesses and attractions. Please join us to share your thoughts.

TIPD-VIP TYBEE ISLAND ADULT GROUP
HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS
TIPD Chief Robert Bryson has created a group propelled by adult residents giving back to each other - helping to accomplish whatever needs to be done for the comfort and companionship of fellow residents. The YMCA has come on board to give their support, and our restaurants have come forward, too, giving their goods and support to this project.
Visit with your neighbors, and learn more about what we can do for our friends on the island.
Our ultimate goal is for a kinder, happier group of helpful neighbors on Tybee. If you are unable to attend, due to health or other needs, you are one of our more cherished VIP’s. We are seeking to offer our help. If you are not needing help, we need you to help others, and if you need help getting the garbage out from your second story house, but have a need to give back, well… we need you too!
Attend these monthly meetings with island restaurants contributing free lunches!
