Traffic Control Plans
As we approach busy weekends, the City of Tybee Island is preparing to handle large crowds with additional staffing and traffic controls. As a reminder, golf carts are NOT allowed on HWY 80 and Butler Ave.
The following traffic control measures will be in place for the upcoming spring break travel.
- An emergency lane will be set up down U.S. HWY 80 for First Responder vehicles ONLY.
Protocols in Place 4/26 - 4/28
Road Closures:
- All side street entrances on the western side of Butler Ave. will be closed, starting at 2nd Street.
- Access to Lewis Ave., Miller Ave., and Second Ave. will be blocked from the HWY 80 entrance if necessary.
- All traffic on Butler Ave. will be prohibited from turning East onto Tybrisa Street.
- Traffic south of Tybrisa St. will continue one way on Inlet Ave. to 17th St. East, back to Butler Ave., back northbound.
Parking Information
Tybee Island is a small island, at roughly three square miles and about 2,100 parking spaces. The island can feel overcrowded on a busy beach weekend, so plan accordingly.
Public Parking on Tybee Island is $4 per hour, and is enforced 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. including holidays and weekends.
