In accordance with GA House Bill 461 and Tybee Island City Council, the City of Tybee Island has changed the way permitting fees are calculated, effective July 1, 2025.
Fees for projects under $75,000 are flat fees, based on residential and commercial project types. In most instances, a residential project will have a flat rate of $75 while commercial projects will have a flat rate of $150. There are modifications for more review intensive projects.
For construction projects over $75,000, the Cost of Construction and fees by permit type are now determined by the greater of the following:
- All labor, materials, profit and overhead.
- Contract cost
- Covered square feet of structure
