The City of Tybee Island's Development Authority / Main Street Program initiated a Public Mural Project in keeping with part of its mission of supporting and encouraging the arts on the island. The concept for a public mural began a few years ago when program directors identified a need to highlight the arts more in the downtown area on a visually empty "canvas".
