General Information

Contact the clerk’s office prior to your court date with questions regarding rescheduling of cases. Doors of the courtroom open at 3:15 p.m. If any defendant fails to either post a cash bond or appear in court as scheduled that defendant's drivers license is subject to being suspended, or an arrest warrant for Failure to Appear could be issued.

When in court, appropriate attire is required. Persons will not appear in bathing suits or halter tops. Weapons of any kind, hats, chewing gum, and food/drinks are prohibited in court. Cell phones, pagers and similar devices that disturb the court will be confiscated.

Fine Payment

Traffic fines and local ordinance fines may be paid at the police department. We accept cash, money order, credit/debit cards, and cashier's checks. We do not accept personal checks. If the fine is not paid beforehand, the defendant must appear in court on the time and date shown on the traffic citation or subpoena.

The Tybee Island Municipal Court has recently enabled an online site for paying your traffic tickets online. This site can only be used to pay police-issued citations online, if you need assistance using this service please call the Court Clerk at 912.786.5635. If your citation requires a personal court appearance, you will be unable to pay online, and you will need to be present at the Court date indicated on your citation. Paying parking tickets online is still done through the "Pay Parking Tickets" link under Online Payments.
