The Old School Cafeteria is a historic space original to the Old School Building. There is a breezeway leading to the entrance to the facility that also continues as a covered walkway leading to the YMCA and Memorial Park. The Old School Cafeteria is a great place for large meetings and family functions such as weddings, birthdays, reunions, or other special events. The area boasts a wide-open layout with plenty of floor space to allow you to create the exact atmosphere ideal for your gathering. There are large blue curtains to complement any decor of your choosing. There is a full kitchen with access to a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, box freezer, ice maker, deep sinks and several large metal rolling tables for a prep station and storage. The facility rental includes 13 round tables (5ft), 10 rectangle tables (6ft), and over 100 folding chairs.

The History of the second Tybee Island Elementary School: The city of Tybee Island was incorporated in 1887 and a small year round population had developed creating a need for local services including a school. The first Tybee School was in an old wooden structure built in 1901 and served until a new building was built in 1955. The second Tybee School remained open until 1988 when, due to lack of attendance, it closed. The Old School Building is now used as the local YMCA, the city has a few offices in the building, and the cafeteria as well as an old classroom is available for rental. The building may no longer be used as a school but the locals still refer to it as ‘the old school’ and for many it still holds wonderful memories of their youth within its walls.
