APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED
FOR ONE (1) OPEN SEAT
The Mayor and City Council of Tybee Island are considering applicants for the Tybee Island Historic Preservation Commission. One position on the Commission is currently vacant and appointment will be to fulfill a three-year term which expires at the end of 2020. Interested applicants should submit their resume to City Clerk Jan LeViner at City Hall.
Qualifications: The commission consists of five members appointed by the mayor and ratified by the city council. All members shall be residents of Tybee Island and shall be persons who have demonstrated special interest, experience or education in history, architecture or the preservation of historic resources. To the extent available on Tybee Island, at least three members shall be appointed from among professionals in the disciplines of architecture, history, architectural history, planning, archeology, or related disciplines. Members shall serve three-year terms. Members shall attend one 8-hour Certified Local Government training during their term. Members shall not receive a salary, although they may be reimbursed for expenses associated with trainings.
HPC meetings are typically held the third Monday at 6pm each month in the Auditorium at City Hall.
Applications will be accepted until the one open seat is appointed by Mayor and Council during a regularly scheduled City Council meeting.
