DEADLINE for FEMA HMGP application process

fema-logo-main

You must file your declaration of intent, a simple form with little more than your contact information, with the City at the Planning and Zoning Department at City Hall, no later than Friday, December 15th. You may opt out at any time, but you cannot be included if you have not made your declaration by that time.

We have advertised a request for proposals (RFP) for a consultant to assist with the grant application process. This RFP closes on December 15, 2017. Staff will review the proposals and present City Council with a recommendation.

The charter of that consultant, as published in the RFP, includes the following items:

  • Collect all necessary data regarding structures whose owners have shown voluntary interest.
  • Conduct all necessary structural evaluations of structures whose owners have shown voluntary interest.
  • Complete elevation certificates for all structures whose owners have shown voluntary interest
  • Determine cost estimates for elevating each structure whose owners have shown voluntary interest.
  • Conduct at least one public information meeting to explain the process to the affected properties owners.
  • All other tasks necessary for grant application submittal
  • Submit the completed application (see attachment A) to GEMA prior to the February 1, 2018 deadline

City Council will make consultant selection based on that recommendation during a non-regular called meeting thereafter in December. Once a contract is signed, the consultant will begin evaluating homes with intention paperwork filed.

A public meeting will be held in January to give an update on progress.

The city's grant application is due on February 1, 2018
