On behalf of the citizen's of Tybee Island, I would like to welcome you to our island's own River's End Campground. Since July 12, 2006, the facility has been operated by the City of Tybee Island after many years of dedicated stewardship by the Simmons family. The campground was recently acquired by the City of Tybee Island in an effort to preserve the facility as a campground/RV park.
Tybee offers visitors a place for all seasons with sandy beaches, great fishing, and rich history at every turn. We invite you to make River's End your home base for exploring it all. Whether you're retired and living in your RV full time or a young family with your first pop-up, our goal is to make your stay a pleasant one. We're just 3 short blocks from the beach and an easy 15 mile drive to historic downtown Savannah.
We have approximately 100 sites that have full hook-up capacity with sewer, free cable, water and electric service only, and primitive camp sites. Some, but not all water-electric sites also have free cable. We offer a free internet room during our office hours and free Wi-Fi for those who enjoy net surfing from their RV or picnic table.
River's End Campground & RV Park is open all year. If you visit during the summer, you'll enjoy our large pool and screened pavilion. You can ride your bike around the island and enjoy the slow pace and quaint beach cottages. Cast your shrimp net in the river or go crabbing in the marsh. Sun and swim at the beach as you listen to the sound of sea gulls and watch children playing in the surf. If you are tired and hungry after all that visit one of the fine restaurants on our island and sample the local seafood. Before the day ends, go back to our camp site and visit with our "neighbors" over a cool drink as the moon shines down on ancient oaks.
Like cooler weather? As locals will tell you, the best time for exploring the beach is in late Fall, Winter, and Spring before the summer crowds. If you visit in the Winter, bring your friends and join us for potluck's and card games in our 'River Room' with its Savannah Gray Brick fireplace, antique wooden service bar, and cable television. Go into Savannah and see the old city decked out in its holiday best for the Christmas season. Tour homes, take a carriage ride, or feel your spine tingle as a costumed narrator tells of the antics of the city's more ghostly inhabitants. For more lively antics, visit during St. Patrick's Day when everyone is Irish and everything is green.

Whenever you decide to visit, call us firsthand we'll give you ideas for planning your trip. Let us help you host a rally for your travel group, provide a facility to host your family’s next reunion, or delight you with the delectable delights of the coastal Empire via low country boil, crab boils, or oyster roasts during their respective seasons. Our goal at River's End is to provide you with a safe, pleasant location where you can relax and meet new friends and come back year after year. If that's what you're looking for, please give us a try. We think you'll be glad you did.
Sincerely,
Jason Buelterman
Mayor

Is River’s End Campground & RV Park open year-round?
Yes
How do I make a reservation at the River’s End Campground & RV Park?
Reservations are taken via phone toll-free at (800) 786-1016 each day from 9AM – 6PM EST with the exception of City recognized holidays. In the event that you do not get through the first time, please leave a voicemail, and staff will return your call promptly. If your call is received after 6PM EST or during a holiday, your call will be returned the next business day.
After I have made my reservation, what time can I check in on the date of my arrival?
Check-in & Check-out time is 1PM.
Can I stay later than the date of my departure?
If you know that you want to extend the departure date of your trip, let office staff know 24 hours prior to check-out time on the date of your departure. After this, every attempt will be made to accommodate camper requests; however, incoming check-ins are granted priority. For this reason, let us know as soon as possible that you would like to extend your stay.
What if I make a reservation but I cannot arrive at the campground by the close of business to check in?
As long as you have a reservation, your last name and site number will be taped to a site map on the door after the close of business. Along with your last name and site number, this map will depict driving directions to your site. Since most RV connections are on the driver’s side, these directions will outline the best way for connecting driver side service hook-ups with the site connections at your site.
What if I do not have a reservation and I need a campsite later than business hours?
Each day at the close of business, staff will post a list of available sites. Each site is good for 1 night only. Campers are encouraged to find an available site if arriving after hours and to check-in the next business day between 9AM – 11AM. Every attempt will be made to accommodate camper requests; however, check-in times may create the need for you to change sites.
Are any camping opportunities available for those without campers or RVs?
Primitive campsites for tents are available on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are not taken for these sites and campers may stay up to one week. Amenity sites, suitable for tents or smaller campers and/or RVs with water and electricity (no sewer) are available via registration or as available. Some of these water & electric sites, but not all, are wired for cable. No pets are allowed in tents.
Can I use my generator while staying at the River’s End Campground & RV Park?
No camper usage of gas powered equipment is permitted. Electric adapters are encouraged and for sale in the Campground Store.
Can I stay year-round at River’s End Campground & RV Park?
River’s End Campground is open year-round; however, it is not conducive for full-time residency. Seasonal rates are assessed by the month during the winter (Oct. 1 – Feb. 28), and summer rates (March 1 – Sep. 30) are assessed by the week.
Can I bring my pet when coming to River’s End Campground?
While the River’s End Campground & RV Park is considered to be “pet friendly”, this really means “owner responsible”. Pets must be on leashes with their owner when outside at all times. Pets are not to be left unattended outside or in personal vehicles under any circumstances. No pets are permitted in tent sites, the primitive tent camping areas, or to be left in any vehicles other than campers or RV’s with functioning climate control. City ordinance prohibits pets from being allowed on the beach. Each owner is responsible for cleaning up after their pet. Failure to clean up after your pet will result in immediate expulsion from the campground.
If I need to change or cancel my reservation, does River’s End Campground offer refunds?
River’s End Campground & RV Park policy is to grant adjustments and cancellations of outstanding reservations up to 72 hours (3 days) prior to the scheduled arrival date. After this point, no refunds shall be granted.
If I have to leave the campground in the event of a hurricane, evacuation order, or other natural disaster, will I receive a refund?
No refunds are granted in the event of weather related circumstances or other acts of God.
What types of connectivity options exist within the River’s End Campground & RV Park?
The River’s End Campground & RV Park offers free Wi-Fi and a workstation inside of the Store/Office. While no printing capability exists at the campground workstation, we are located close to a County library, and printing can be done for a fee.
Can I host a rally, event, ceremony, or other gathering at the River’s End Campground & RV Park?
Yes! We offer a range of amenities to such travel groups who choose us for their event rallying point and/or host site. Please contact us as soon as you know your specifics (dates of stay/# of campers/# of coaches), and we’ll get to work! We offer programs, meals, and facilities for a variety of groups!

Guidelines for Event Hosting at River’s End Campground & RV Park
We welcome groups and offer very lucrative discounts of our rates depending on the number in your group, the length of stay, and site availability. We want your business and will offer discounts on weekends, during our peak season, and during special events. Rally rates do not apply during holiday periods as holiday reservations require a minimum of a three night stay. These are our busiest times and availability during these times may be limited, yet we will do our best to accommodate your group. Groups interested in holding an event should contact the office so we can address your group needs, check site availability, and offer you a wonderful experience.
- In order to hold the number of sites needed to host an event with the River’s End, the group reserving must provide a one evening security deposit at the applicable rate in order to hold each site for the duration of their stay. All reservations must be finalized within 45 days prior to the start date of the event. Please Note: Our group cancellation policy requires that the first night’s reservation deposit be forfeited should you cancel the group outing. Individual cancellations within the group will also forfeit the first night. We do not issue refunds.
- If your members wish to make individual reservations, the group discount will apply only up to the period of 45 days prior to the date of the event. From this point, the group discount will not apply and published rates are applicable. Should the number in your group change significantly, so too may the rate of discount.
- After 45 days from the starting date of the reservation, any remaining reserved sites with no pending registration during the dates of stay will be released for booking by the general public. Campground staff will still accept reservations from individuals for the event, but only at the published rate.
- Early arrivals or late departures must be handled via individual reservations at published rates (no discounted rates) in conjunction with the Campground staff. We will make every attempt to place the camper on the same site as during the group event but we cannot guarantee that the site will be available. For this reason, we encourage an early phone call for individual reservations.
- River’s End Campground & RV has 71 full hook-up sites consisting of 30-amp mostly, and with a lesser number of 50-amp sites. Most RVs are fine with 30 amps, although newer, larger, and more demanding electrical systems require these 50-amp sites. These 50-amp sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, in the event that only a 50-amp service is available for a 30-amp service, the 50-amp service rate will apply. An adapter may be purchased in the store or a deposit of $30 can be left within the store to be returned upon departure.
- No additional charges are required for the use of the River Room and Pavilion; however, we ask that your group leave the facilities clean and orderly upon your departure. All maintenance equipment, brooms, garbage cans and liners, etc. will be supplied to you. A pre-event meeting with the Campground Manager will be scheduled by the group coordinator to go over the facilities and answer any questions that may arise. A post-event meeting and walk-through will also be completed with both parties.
- The River Room is equipped with a full-service kitchen area. It is available for groups preparing their own meals or for catering. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and stove, refrigerator and freezer space. Some utensils and cooking equipment are also available for use. Our kitchen is not equipped with a proper hood system to allow deep frying in the kitchen. If meals will require deep frying, arrangements should be made to do this outside of the River Room. Damaged or missing equipment will be the responsibility of the rally.
- The River Room is furnished with an ample supply of folding tables and chairs to accommodate the capacity within the facility. The furniture can be used and arranged in accordance with the needs of your event. All River Room furniture must be used inside the River Room. If outdoor furniture is needed, attendees are encouraged to bring their own or contact a local rental store.
- All outside entertainment brought in by rally groups will be required to supply their own adequate sound system and associated A/V needs. River’s End Campground has no sound system. Event Coordinators should make this clear when contracting for event entertainment.
- Onsite events, conducted and implemented by Campground staff, or its contractors, must be paid for in full 7 days prior to the date of the event. These events include Low Country Boil, interpretive programming, historical presentations, etc. Payment can be made via individual reservation to the Campground during the reservation process, or paid in a lump sum by the group representative. Full payment must be received one week prior to the event. All payment for onsite events and programming is non-refundable.
- Tickets for the Old Town Trolley tour to historical Savannah are available within 24 hours of the date of departure. Tickets are available in the Campground office, and the shuttle picks up in front of the Campground office each morning and returns in the afternoon.
- In the event that you have any questions, need to make reservations, check availability, or to discuss what we can do for you, please give us a call at (800) 786-1016, or send us an email to riversend1@aol.com and enter ‘Group Camping’ in the subject line of your email.
